the Anachronism Triathlon -- March 5th

Tourney is on the way! The Triathlon (or, "Spring Break for the Broke Collegiate") is scheduled for 1-5 pm on Sunday, March 5th.

Why is it called the Triathlon, you may ask? Simple, really. Each player will have a standard 3-warrior stable (meaning no culture shock). There will be three events in three rounds, and the winner is the player with the most points. Assuming we get 5-6 people, here's the breakdown:

Round 1: Head-to-head. (3 matches ea.)
Round 2: Random Team play (2 matched ea.)
Round 3: Multiplayer (1 big ol' match)

These events should test a player's flexibility, as well as be really bloody fun. The tournament will be based on Swiss-style points (meaning match-ups are based on your standings). Each round will have different point systems:

Round 1
3 pts - Winning a match
1 pt - Winning a game
1 pt - Lost, but opponent was below 3
2 pts - Bonus, if you win a match without having to play the third game

Round 2
3 pts - Team wins a match
1 pt - Team wins a game
1 pt - Reduce an opponent to 0 Life
1 pt - Survive a game

Round 3
3 pts - Winning the match
1 pt - Winning a game
3 pts - Reduce an opponent to 0 Life
1 pt - Survive a game

This point system should provide competitive play. Here's what I mean: if a player is perfect in round 1, he or she would score 21 points. Perfection in round 2 (a much harder feat) would net a player 26 points. But going ballistic and playing a perfect Round 3 (nearly impossible) could net you 30, 39, or 48 points, depending on how many players are involved.

In other words, nobody is out by the time of the big melee. And whoever's in first will find him- or herself confronted with an angry mob...
